About Sarge...
bCH Kai-Lyn's Sargent of Zion, CGN, HCT
Sarge came home with us from "Homecoming 2001" at 8 weeks of age. He was bred by New Zion Shiloh's out of bCH PTD. Zion's A-Tribute to Snow's Grizz (sire) and Xena Warrior Princess of Zion (dam). He is ISSR registerd.
Sarge did exceptionally well in the show ring! He was originally purchased as a 'show/breeding' prospect, and thus I met my commitment to show him to Championship in addition to obtaining temperament and working titles on him. In fact, he was the 3rd highest pointed dog of all breeds ever showing with the RBCSWO a few years back, the largest Rare Breed organization in Canada!
Sarge passed his CGN (Canine Good Neighbor) test with flying colors at just over a year of age! He's also been tested for herding instinct, receiving his HC1 certificate too! With tons of drive to chase anything you'd throw for him, he is extremely obedient, gentle in nature and INTELLIGENT!
We were very disappointed upon receiving Sarge's official OFA hip and elbow results because he was diagnosed with Grade 2 Unilateral Hip Dysplasia and Grade 2 Elbow Dysplasia at 2 years of age. Therefore, our beautiful Sarge was not a breeding candidate, but instead remains our beloved Shiloh Shepherd pet. I have a very large box completely filled with the beautiful ribbons that Sarge won in his limited show career.
He's 7 years old now and showing obvious discomfort from his hip and elbow dysplasia, but he's still the most regal Shiloh Shepherd I've ever laid eyes upon. Please everyone, test your dogs and let your breeder be aware of your results. This might avoid future generations of pups being born to suffer early arthritic diseases via "educated selection".
